Springtime Showers and Storm Flooding

Spring is on its way and that means showers. With those showers comes the potential for storm runoff flooding. Are you prepared? Here are a few tips to put your mind at ease as you enjoy the lovely spring weather

• Never walk or drive down flooded streets. There are many roads that flood, due to outdated storm drain systems in our city.    Remember, it only takes 6 inches of water to be swept off your feet.
• Check your insurance policy on a yearly basis, to see what type of flood insurance you have. The more you know, the better.
• Lastly, it is always a good idea to have an emergency plan in place. Set one up with friends or family. It is also a good idea to make sure you have plenty of supplies for each member of your household to last at least 3-5 days in case of such emergency.
